Started by Mike in 2009
Mike Mitchell started South Build with a ute and a trailer after ten years working for other builders around Nelson. He still prices every job himself and is on site most days.
We’re a small team on purpose. You deal with the same people from the first site visit to handing over the keys, and we only take on as much work as we can do properly.
Most of our work comes from people who’ve used us before or have been sent our way by a neighbour.
The team
Four of us, plus the same subbies we’ve used for years: sparky, plumber, plasterer and painter.
Mike Mitchell
Licensed Building Practitioner with 20 years on the tools. Mike prices every job and is on site most days.
Dave Wilson
Runs the site day to day. Dave has been with us since 2012 and does most of our renovation work.
Sarah Mitchell
Looks after quotes, consents, invoices and the weekly updates, and is usually the one who answers the phone.
Josh Reid
In the third year of his apprenticeship and about to qualify.
