Common questions
How long does a new home take to build?
Most of our new homes take 8 to 11 months from the first dig to handing over the keys. Before that, allow 2 to 4 months for plans and building consent.
What’s included in your price?
The build itself: foundations, frame, roof, windows, cladding, plumbing, electrical, linings, kitchen, bathrooms, flooring and paint. We’ll list exactly what’s in and what isn’t, such as landscaping, fencing or curtains, before you sign.
What if I want to change something once we’ve started?
That’s fine. We price the change in writing as a variation, and you approve it before we do the work, so there are no surprises on the final bill.
Do you build on sloping sections?
Yes, a lot of Nelson sections are sloping. It usually means more foundation work, so it adds to the cost. We’ll tell you how much once we’ve seen the site.
Do you do the building consent?
Yes. We prepare and lodge it with Nelson City or Tasman District Council and answer any questions they have.
Can I use my own plans?
Yes. Bring your architect’s or designer’s plans, or choose one of our plans and we’ll change it to suit your section.
